3 Destination Ideas for Your Safari Trip
I’ve been lucky to visit many amazing places, from visiting a famous fairytale castle to exploring the beauty of Cambodia. I’ve seen amazing sights and met incredible people. One thing I’d love to do is a safari – getting to see wild animals I’ve only ever seen in documentaries in real life is on my bucket list for sure. However, it leaves the question, where are the best places to go on a safari trip? Here are three ideas.
Tanzania
Tanzania has some of the biggest game reserves and parks in Africa and as such, is one of the most popular places for safari adventures. Be sure to head to the Serengeti National Park at the right time of year to see the start of the Great Migration, where over a million wildebeest, zebra, and antelope migrate towards the Masai Mara. This is an amazing way to see such a huge hoard of animals making this journey – a real natural phenomenon.
If you take a walk on the shores of the Lake Tanganyika, you’ll experience chimpanzees swinging right above your head. For some downtime, be sure to head over to Zanzibar to relax on the powder-sand beaches, or take a trip on a dhow.
Kenya
Of course, one big draw for visiting Kenya for a safari is seeing the other part of the Great Migration in the Masai Mara, but there is so much more. Explore the open grasslands, where you’ll spy wildebeest and antelope frolicking, or head to the salt lakes to see the incredible sight of flamingoes bathing.
Leopards hide from the sun beneath trees and the rest of the Big Five (which consists of lion, rhinoceros, elephant, Cape buffalo, as well as the leopard) will be on the prowl for those eagled-eyed enough to spot them! In between game drives, learn about the Maasai culture from the locals and relax on the stunning beaches nearby. Bliss.
Botswana
One of the best safari parks in Botswana is the Chobe National Park, where you’ll be able to spot huge herds of elephants and buffalo. If you want to see hippo and crocodiles bathing in the water, Okavango Delta is the place to visit, and you’ll be amazed by the number of different bird species flying around, too.
Choose to take a canoe trip for a different perspective on the area, or a walking safari to enjoy the entire ecosystem as one. Botswana safaris offer the chance to stay in a rustic tent for the full experience, or a more upmarket lodge with plush furnishings to ensure a good night’s sleep.
These are three of the best places to enjoy a safari, based on the number and type of animals that are around as well as other activities available. A safari is a fantastic choice of trip. Whether you’re looking for a romantic honeymoon destination or an exciting family holiday, you won’t be disappointed!
Remember you can customize your trip by exploring accommodation options and even the mode of transport, from a vehicle to a hot air balloon. Specialists can offer photography-focused tours, or safaris geared towards families to help keep the little ones engaged.
